Christmas presents

In august I began planning what my knitted Christmas presents should be this time.

First thing; a shawl, Camomille by Helga Isager, for my mother. Half way through is I made a mistake, spent a long time trying to fix it without unravelling the whole thing, realized it didn't work, unravelled quite a bit and spent 10 hours getting back to where the realization happened. In spite of that, I actually enjoyed knitting this shawl.
The yarn is Supersoft aka Júnik wool and Lana Grossa Lace. And to knit with I used my Addi 4.0 mm. and my Clover hook 3.5 mm.

The second thing was this cardigan, Crocus by Helga Isager, made with Cascade 220 Superwash from www.byslavi.dk (unfortunately, Slavi has closed his business since then - such a shame). The receiver of this soft cardigan was Malene, Moe's niece. And it fit her beautifully.

Presents three and four where socks for my dad and granddad. Both of them are addicted to homeknit socks made with Regia Silk. And I can't blame them. I didn't manage to get a photo of them - you can take a look at my granddad (the nicest person I know) instead :)

The fifth present was for Moe - he's a man will cold feet. But no more, because now he's got these slippers, and he's more or less attached to them day and night.
Crocheted using the Clover hook 6.0 mm with New Zealandsk Lammeuld from Filcolana and Gotlandsk Pelsuld also from Filcolana. In the first picture you can see what they looked like before they went into the washing mashine.

Granddad's 85th birthday

I was in Italy on his birthday. The following Sunday Moe and I went by his house and dropped of a small present. I wanted to give him good health, a brand new body, and his youth back, but since that wasn't going to happen, I gave him a pair of socks instead. He luuuuves my homeknit
socks :)

Socks for sale!

One of my mother's colleagues asked, if I would knit socks for her. And I thought 'what the heck...'

Socks, socks, socks...!

I can't help it. I love to knit socks. And as always, I'm trying to bring down my stash a bit and since I have a lot of sock yarn in my stash (how can that be?) I thought Moe should have another pair of socks. And I must say: he never was afraid of colours! He did say that he would prefer if I didn't include any baby pink or salmon coloured yarn in them. Since my stash isn't exactly full of yarn in those colours I said 'no probs' and began knitting :)

He likes them - and I like them on him :)

I did knit another pair of socks for myself as well. I gave the pattern Spring Forward another chance and finally things worked out the way I wanted them to - I tried the pattern some time ago and ended up frogging it. This time I used my craaaaazy coloured ShibuiSock yarn, which was probably somewhat over the top for this pattern. Still I'm quite pleased with the result.

A quick knit!

Back again - with award and socks on the menu

Happy New Year, folks! We celebrated Christmas with my in-laws and new year's eve with friends. The days in between we spent doing almost nothing. I needed that desperately. I really enjoyed having some time to myself.

Around Christmas time, Tine gave me this sweet award - thank you so much! :)

These awards always come as such a surprise to me. I'll forward it to two other bloggers, the first being Bea who's blog I keep coming back to :) The second blogger is Emma who makes such nice things that I can't help looking over her cyberspace shoulder :)

I'll stop talking and instead show you the things I made during the much valued me-time.

More socks

Last year I decided that this year I would knit more socks. I really enjoy knitting socks; they are fast, new patterns are easily applied, and they are perfekt if you want to bring your knitting with you at all times. Last but not least: once you've gotten used to wearing homeknit socks, you have also reached a point of no return. I love my homeknit socks :) If you happen to know another equally perfect type of project, please let me know.

The green socks are Embossed Leaves Socks by Mona Schmidt in Shibui Sock. The yarn has seemed to be cursed, so I'm just very relieved that it has finally been turned into socks.

The crazy coloured socks are Cookie A.'s Lindsay. At first I wasn't sure if they would turn out to be the most hideous thing ever but I kept on knitting. And I love the result. The yarn is Regia Silk Color - so soft.

The light blue pair is Wanida by Cookie A. I managed to misunderstand one tiny bit of the pattern, and I only realized it when I had finished the first sock already. Oh well, I just made the other sock match the first - regardless of what the pattern dictated. I knit them with the Regia Cotton I got in one of the lovely Ravelry swaps :)

You may have noticed another pair of socks in the first picture - the plain, beige ones. It's a Christmas present. Not really that interesting.

Baby Socks and Hat

Jeremy Junior was born a week ago - I still haven't seen him, but I know his mother will appreciate some baby socks for him. I wanted to make a baby cap as well, so why not make it a match.A total of 41 g from the stash.
Note to self: CO 60 stitches to make the straps - needle size 3.0

Shibui Sock - here we go again

This is probably the 4th time I knit a sock with this yarn. For reasons unknown I seem to have a bit of trouble actually knitting a wearable sock with this otherwise lovely yarn. Could it be cursed?
I thought I would be going for a Cookie A. pattern this time, but instead I chose a pattern by Jennifer L. Appleby found in my new "Favorite Socks - 25 Timeless Designs from INTERWEAVE" book.
