A Berry Cute Hat

My sweet niece, Maja, turned two last Friday. Her parents had asked us over for a cup of coffee and a slice of birthday cake today. So, knowing that Maja would probably be showered in toys by her thrilled grandparents I decided to do a bit of knitting.... I stumbled over the Berry Cute Hat from http://www.fibertrends.com/

I bought the yarn a while ago. Last Tuesday the hat was on my personal knitting menu.... at last. If Maja had had a head no bigger than a large crape fruit, the first attempt of a berry hat would have fitted just fine. Too tight due to too small needles. Thursday Pindsvinet visited; we knitted two-three hours, enjoyed our antipasti and resumed the knitting session until midnight.... as usual :) I gave the hat another chance - it wasn't as if I had anything else to offer Maja for her birthday! I actually managed to finish the hat in time and birthday girl Maja seemed to like it (thank you, knitting gods!). Anyway, here it is \o/

Knitting Teaser

So, today I went down to one of the LYSs to get a few more skeins of the lovely wool yarn for my denim blue cardigan (will get pictures later on..... I might be done knitting by the time I actually upload those pictures.... never mind, I'll get around to it!).

Anyway, I discovered that the 10 skeins I bought to begin with would hardly be enough, close but still not quite enough. Fortunately the owner of Fandago, Sys (aka Fandango-Sys), was able to fetch me some yarn from the same die lot, bless her soul :)

With the goods in my hands we talked a little about knitting and I asked about the monthly knitting get-together at Fandago. The get-together is basically 'just' a bunch of women who meet up, knit, drink coffee and buy more yarn they cannot live without - and it didn't take Fandango-Sys long to convince me to join some time in the very near future.... I'll drag Lise (aka Pindsvinet) along :)

Squirrely Swedish Mittens - by Elli

I'm getting old(er), so I tend to forget things, even somewhat important knitting related things. Shame on me!

Well well, on the way to and fro our ski holiday in Italy I managed to knit these wonderful mittens designed by Elli, http://www.elliphantom.com/

Stitch marker.... aaah!

Unfortunately the stitch markers I bought yesterday had not improved over night. So I went back - back to the cave of evil stitch markers, Panduro Hobby. I didn't go back to complain because it's my own fault and even a blind knitter would have known that they were crappy. No, I went back to get my very own stitch marker kit. For now I need just one, so I made one and one only :) And here it is.... (drum roll, please)....!

Stitch markers.....ack!

Today I went down to the local crafts shop to buy some stitch markers. I need one single stitch marker for my denim blue cardigan. The shop, Panduro Hobby, carries only one kind of stitch markers so they would have to do. But they don't! My god, how can you mess up something as utterly simple as stitch markers - I wouldn't trust the designers to be able to eat and drink right. Of course I shouldn't have settled for this cheap version but desperation got the better of me - again :)

Knitting Heaven

About two months ago I joined the ravelry.com community. My long lost friend, Lise (aka Pindsvinet) pointed me in the direction of knitting paradise. I cannot believe that I hadn't discovered the world's best online site aaaall by myself, since I do spend a great deal of time on the famous Internet :)

Well, well, it's not really important who found ravelry.com or how it was found - I'm just glad I'm now a member of this timeconsuming club! Thanks, Lise!
