To begin with I didn't have a plan as such. I just knew I wanted to make something for Tristan, and since cardigans seem to be a lot more practical than jumpers at his age, I thought a cardigan with a round yoke would be a suitable thing to make. Searching through Ravelry I came across Ella Funt.

Ella Funt
One day in October I decided to go 'shopping' in my own stash, and in it I found one of my favorite yarns; the Lana Grossa Cool Wool 2000 - 100% merino wool. I love it. And the colour range is incredible! I had some denim blues, a few greens and some other balls of Cool Wool that didn't go with anything. So I bought a few extra balls of yarn.

Princess Mary's Shawl
When the Danish crown princess and crown prince had their children babtised the babies where carried wrapped in a shawl Princess Mary got from her mother - I believe it was originally a Shetlandic design (probably from Unst, to be exact).
Cecilie, who I used to go to school with, is having her first child in 15 days, which happens to be my birthday too. She asked me if I would be interested in making this quite famous 'Mary shawl' for her baby (she would pay me and all). Since I had been thinking about making this very shawl just for the fun of it, I agreed. And it was fun to knit! :) It's huge so it takes around 100 hours to make. Consider yourself warned.
Today I handed it over to Cecilie; she seemed to be very pleased with the result.

EZ - February Sweater
I've tried to resist Elizabeth Zimmerman's wonderful patterns for so long, and finally I had to give in.

For this project I used an all time favorite, i.e. Lana Grossa Cool Wool 2000 - a super soft superwash merino wool. It comes in many colours, so I always have a hard time picking just one :)
I enjoy this pattern so much that I'm likely to make another February Sweater very soon.

Iceland by Stephanie White, Rowan
Another Rowan project on my needles. I can't help it.
I bought the yarn a while ago. I was nice to just pick it from my stash and start knitting.
But boy! This pattern is described in extreme detail - no chart, just an abundance of words and abbreviations! I'm not complaining, I'm just very fascinated :)

If I do feel the need to complain it will most certainly be about the mindless yarn purchase back in March/April. For some reason I bought 7 balls of Rowan Cocoon for this project. Seven! What was I thinking! I need 9 and now it's sold out. The shop owner has promised me to phone some of the other shops that carry Rowan yarns. I don't understand it. Okay, I know I can be that stupid (I've proved it many many times, so no puzzle there) But hello, it's bulky, warm and not something you want to knit with sweaty palms... It's been summer uptil now. How can it be sold out???
I probably won't get yarn from the right dye lot. I can live with that. I'll use the new yarn for the bottom rib; it will be just fine. But in case you sit there and think: "Hey wait, I have a couple of Rowan Cocoon balls, col. 808 Tundra, dye lot no. 2131 and I'll never ever use it for anything...." well, pop me an email, okay? ;)
In spite of everything I'm still very much in love with this sweater.
